Welcome to the 2024-2025 Scorpion Sound Season Leadership Highlights! This year, we are kicking off the season, showcasing our leadership team and who they are, beyond the instrument. Keep checking back to see your friends and family highlighted. This week we're starting off with:
Primary Instrument: Flute
What inspired you to join the marching band?
I've been playing flute since I was in 5th grade, so I've always been in love with music. Marching band has been something I've always dreamed of doing since I started out, as seeing marching bands on TV during the Macy's Thanksgiving parade always excited me!
What’s your favorite band tradition?
My favorite tradition has gotta be dancing to the low brass' Low Rider tune :)
What’s your favorite memory with the marching band?
My favorite memory has gotta be when we had to drive to the practice fields last year, and I was with my three trombone friends
What’s your go-to hype song before a performance?
I'm big on pop-rock, so one song I absolutely love is "Coffee Shop Soundtrack" by All Time Low
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Pyrokinesis because fire is freaking awesome! >:)
If you could play any other instrument in the band, what would it be?
Definitely French horn. I absolutely love the sound and I always think of Star Wars when I hear it
If your instrument had a personality, how would you describe it?
I named my flute Scott, so I imagine him being serious and sophisticated, like a proper gentleman
If you could have a jam session with any musician, dead or alive, who would it be?
Okay, but imagine meeting Freddy Mercury IRL?! That would be so cool!
What are your favorite hobbies when you're not at band practice?
I'm in the school's JROTC, and I absolutely love Honor Guard!
Favorite Color? Green!
Favorite movie? Tick Tick Boom!
Favorite season? Autumn!
Cats or dogs? Dogs
Favorite band or musician? My Chemical Romance 😎
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to new band members?
Don't worry about how good other people around you are. You're here to improve yourself after all! So don't sweat if you miss a note, because as long as you put the effort in, it pays off.
