Getting To Know You

What inspired you to join the marching band?
I thought it looked fun.

What’s your favorite band tradition?
The band awards.

What’s your favorite memory with the marching band?
The Thriller Nights Show, my freshman year

What’s your go-to hype song before a performance?
All In, by Stray Kids.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I’d have a calming aura, so everyone around me is always calm, working together as a team and not letting stress take over the fun times.

If you could play any other instrument in the band, what would it be?
Trumpet.

If your instrument had a personality, how would you describe it?
My flutes? I have Curious, George and Ted Shackleford. All 3 are totally sassy! They’re small but mighty. They steal the show, hitting the high notes saying, “ Listen up, this show is about to get fabulous.” They’re full of attitude and style.

If you could have a jam session with any musician, dead or alive, who would it be?
Mahler, because he seems like he’d be a cool dude.

What are your favorite hobbies when you're not at band practice?
Sleeping and eating.

Quick Fire Round

Favorite Color? Blue and orange.

Favorite movie? Coco

Favorite season? Autumn

Cats or dogs? Squirrels

Favorite band or musician? Stray Kids

Inspirational

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to new band members?
Don’t feel bad for having to take more breaks to cool yourself off. We would rather have a player who is out on the bench taking care of themself. The more care you take of yourself, the better player you’ll be.
